Marshwood Great Works School

This mural was commissioned by Marshwood Great Works School in South Berwick, Maine. Spring of 2024 I got to do a few presentations to their students speaking about my journey and process being an artist.

They had been learning about ash trees and the emerald ash borer, an invasive beetle, and its threat to the Wabanaki tradition of basket weaving. I wanted to incorporate an ash tree for this design along with their mascot; a purple hawk, and salmon which have a presence in that area. Hawks are seen as messengers, symbolizing guidance and intuition. Salmon can symbolize abundance and prosperity.
